I was invited to deliver a talk at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Orientation 2025, engaging with over 650 enthusiastic students. The energy was absolutely electrifying!
I focused on three key themes during my talk:
1. Live a Purpose-led Life:
NUST life might seem smooth at first especially in these initial orientation days, but hard times will come, whether it’s grades slipping or plans falling apart. You may wonder why you chose NUST in the first place. Don’t let GPA setbacks discourage you. Embrace failure and setbacks as stepping stones, get up every time you fall, and keep asking yourself: How can I add value to others? Having a purpose larger than yourself helps a lot to go through hard times. I shared my own story of early professional failures but discovering purpose of life early on paved the way for my later successes.
2. Invest in Yourself:
Read books, learn skills through YouTube and online courses, and seek internships for practical experience. Start earning through internships to support your studies and reduce dependence on your parents for tuition fees. Learn to save and invest early, even if it’s just from your pocket money. Warren Buffet began investing at 10 years old. You don’t need to be a genius; time is your greatest ally in investing. Start learning about investing today. You can even check out investment videos on my YouTube channel.
3. Communication and Soft Skills:
These get better only with practice. For me, they opened many doors and created opportunities I’d never imagined.
Conclusion:
Blend skill-building, investing knowledge, and communication skills, and you’ll forge a life full of impact and fulfillment.
A big thanks to the NUST Alumni Office for inviting me! The organizing team did a fantastic job making the new students feel at home with a creative lineup of activities, including a special anthem composed by NUST students celebrating campus life. Honestly, I wish we’d had a welcome like this when we started. Truly an amazing event. Well done, team!
